On my morning walk this AM, I stopped to say hello to a neighbor up the way. She has a small diner in front of her home, which is very common in Thailand. It’s a way to hopefully add a small income to the household. There is one table with two seats and no menu. If you are hungry and like the dish she has prepared, you sit down and eat, otherwise there will be another diner of this type a little farther up the road, so you keep on truckin.
I’m not really into flowers. I don’t know their names, and except for accidentals there are none in my yard. However, I am a big fan of contrast, So I had to snap a shot of this red flower on a wonderfully overcast morning as I started my walk today.
Overcast days are wonderful for any type of photography, especially in the early mornings and late afternoons. The colors just pop, and the diffused light bouncing all around can create some nice soft and contrasty black and white, if you look for it.
The above shot is my neighbor cooking up a large pot of Thai spicy vegetable soup. It is very common to see people cooking over an open fire here, especially if it is a large container. In this case she is using a large wok to diffuse the heat.
And that’s it for the morning neighborhood walk. Time for a nice hot cup of coffee — Cheers!
